We take the protection of your data very seriously and ensure compliance with the eight essential principles of the Data Protection Act below, which says that data must:
Be processed fairly and lawfully
Be obtained only for specific, lawful purposes
Be adequate, relevant and not excessive
Be accurate and kept up-to-date
Not be held for any longer than necessary
Processed in accordance with the rights of data subjects
Be protected in appropriate ways
Not be transferred outside the European Economic Area (EEA) unless that country or territory also ensures an adequate level of protection
The personal data we collect from each member includes a name, address, email address, and telephone number. We collect personal data when individuals join our society to provide the information and services requested as part of their membership.
We collect this data with members’ consent and do not, in any circumstances, pass this on to third parties without explicit permission unless required to do so by law. The FAS committee members access the data to pursue FAS business, such as sending out newsletters and membership renewal reminders, notices, newsletters and arts information of interest.
Files are encrypted and stored on a cloud platform for additional security.
We regularly review and, where necessary, update the data we hold and data collection processes.
Personal data will be deleted when an individual leaves FAS or requests the removal of their information.
All individuals whose personal data is held by FAS have the right to request information about what the company holds on them and the reasons for it. They can ask how to access this information, learn how to keep it updated and understand how FAS complies with its data protection obligations. This request is known as a Subject Access Request. Individuals should submit subject access requests to the Frome Art Society Membership by email: membership@fromeartsociety.com
We hope this statement reassures you as to the care we take of your data.
